My speech on June 5th, 2023 against the Planning & Code Review Subcommittee of Benton County Arkansas, wanting to implement new requirements on County residents. Benton County being 1 of only 2 counties in all of Arkansas to implement Building Permits and Inspections at the County, is in my opinion an overreach of authority as the State of Arkansas already licenses and can inspect any work done in Arkansas. Here we see Benton County maintaining a bureaucracy that holds residents living in unincorporated areas to two standards how Arkansas trained contractors are supposed to do their work, and also to whatever the local Benton County Inspector thinks work needs to happen. This ordinance does not affect anyone living in the city limits, it instead only affects people living in unincorporated Benton County, and it has no reason to exist at all.
